Thanks to the support of South Yorkshire, 2012 was our most successful year to date raising over £800,000 and supporting over 18,000 children.
This enabled Cash for Kids to help thousands of local children who are ill, disabled or living in poverty in South Yorkshire. This year we are striving to raise even more money so we can help even more local children and causes.
5 Brides 1 Wedding kicked off 2012, this gave 5 couples the chance to go head to head for the chance to win a full wedding package worth £25,000 including the venue, flowers, dress, photographer, honeymoon – everything they needed for the perfect wedding! All they had to do was raise the most money in one week, the overall total raised was £49,484.85.
Cash for Kids Day took place in March 2012 teaming up with CLIC Sargent. There were many ways people got involved be showing their support by joining The Big Buzz and getting creative with their hair including shaving their heads and dying their hair. Through sponsorship money and fundraising activities a total of £30,000 was granted to CLIC Sargent.
In October and November 2012, over 30 Cash for Kids supporters jumped from an aircraft 15,000ft in the air. Each jumper raised over £500 in sponsorship, all of which went direct to Cash for Kids which was then granted out to support the neediest local children who are sick, deprived and in need of extra support.
This year’s Mission Christmas was the most successful to date, we appealed to our listeners to buy an extra gift or donate cash and help make a sad Christmas a happy Christmas for local kids. We were supported by supermarkets, businesses and individuals who raised money by doing carol concerts, bake sales and fancy dress days. Together we helped over 14,300 children wake up to a gift on christmas morning!
Cash for kids is continuing to raise money for Lillies Wish to Walk, our target is to raise £50,000 so Lillie can have specialist surgery available in America called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This is a life changing opportunity for Lillie and we are continuing into 2013 until we reach our target.
